Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) package dried lo mein noodles
- 4 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, divided
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1 1/2 tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 (15 ounce) can low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and sliced
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 3 cups chopped celery, 1/4-inch pieces
- 1 cup sugar snap peas
- 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1 (12 ounce) package fresh mung bean sprouts
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
Instructions
1
Boil a large container of water and bring it to a rolling boil; cook the noodles, stirring occasionally, until they become tender and have an al dente texture, approximately 6 minutes. Drain the noodles using a colander and toss them with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
2
Heat any remaining sesame oil in a large cooking vessel over medium heat; add the ground turkey, sliced onion, and minced garlic to the hot oil. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the ground turkey is no longer pink and has achieved a uniform color, about 5 minutes. Remove any excess grease from the pan using a paper towel and return it to the cooking vessel.
3
Pour in chicken broth, water chestnuts, soy sauce, and onion soup mix into the pan; stir until well combined. Add sliced celery, snap peas, and bell pepper to the mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until they have slightly softened, approximately 3 to 5 minutes.
4
Add the cooked noodles and bean sprouts to the pan; stir to combine and serve the dish immediately, topped with red pepper flakes.
