Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 large tomatoes, peeled and diced
- 2 tablespoons garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 2 1/2 pounds goat meat, cubed
- 1 cup water
- 1 potato, cubed
- 1 large carrot, sliced
- 2 teaspoons garam masala
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 teaspoons salt, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground red chile pepper
Instructions
1
Preheat your electric pressure cooker by heating 2 tablespoons of oil on the "Sear" mode.
2
Add sliced onions to the pressure cooker and cook, stirring occasionally, until they turn a deep golden color, approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
3
Transfer the cooked onions to a food processor and blend them into a smooth, uniform paste.
4
Transfer the onion paste to a separate bowl.
5
In another food processor, combine chopped tomatoes, garlic paste, and ginger paste. Blend the mixture until it's smooth and free of lumps.
6
Return to the pressure cooker, adding another 2 tablespoons of oil.
7
Add the onion paste and cook over high heat, stirring constantly, until it turns a deep brown color, roughly 2 minutes.
8
Combine the cooked onion paste with the tomato mixture and stir well.
9
Add diced goat meat, water, sliced potatoes, grated carrots, ground spices including garam masala, coriander, cumin, turmeric, salt, and red chile pepper to the pressure cooker.
10
Mix everything together.
11
Close the pressure cooker lid and secure it according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
12
Set the timer for 50 minutes at high pressure.
13
Once the cooking time is up, allow the pressure to release naturally according to the manufacturer's instructions.
