Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) can refried black beans
- 1 (16 ounce) can black beans
- 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 8 corn tostada shells
- 2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/4 cup salsa, or as desired
- 1/4 cup shredded lettuce, or as desired
- 1/4 cup sour cream, or as desired
- 1/4 cup guacamole, or as desired
Instructions
1
Position the oven rack approximately 6 inches away from the heat source and set the broiler to its highest temperature.
2
Combine black beans, refried black beans, green chiles, garlic powder, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm and well blended, taking around 3 to 4 minutes.
3
Arrange tostada shells on an ungreased baking sheet and evenly divide the bean mixture among them. Sprinkle shredded Monterey Jack cheese on top of each shell.
4
Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook until the cheese is melted, keeping a close eye to prevent the tostadas from burning, which should take around 1 to 3 minutes.
5
Serve the dish immediately and garnish with your choice of salsa, lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole.
