  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 cups crushed tortilla chips
  • 4 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Preheat your oven to a medium-high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.

In a large skillet, cook and stir ground beef over medium-high heat until it reaches a crumbly and browned state, taking around 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the skillet from heat and discard any excess grease that accumulates.

Start by adding salsa, onion, mayonnaise, chili powder, and cumin to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Stir everything together.

Place half of the seasoned ground beef mixture at the bottom of a 2-quart casserole dish. Add a layer of tortilla chips on top, followed by half of the Cheddar cheese and half of the Monterey Jack cheese. Repeat this layering process with the remaining ingredients.

Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted throughout, taking approximately 30 minutes.
