Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 8 tablespoons pumpkin pie filling, divided
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 4 teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
- 2 teaspoons whole cloves
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
1
Combine water and sugar in a saucepan; heat it up until the mixture reaches its boiling point. Lower the heat to a moderate level and cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar is fully incorporated into the water, taking around 5 minutes.
2
Add 6 tablespoons of pumpkin pie filling, along with a few whole cinnamon sticks, some ground nutmeg, grated ginger, and a handful of cloves to the sugar mixture; heat it up until it starts simmering. Continue cooking until the entire mixture is well-seasoned, a process that should take 8 to 10 minutes.
3
Pass the spiced mixture through a piece of cheesecloth into a bowl, allowing the liquid to separate from any solids. Put the liquid back in the saucepan over a low flame.
4
Combine the remaining 2 tablespoons of pumpkin pie filling with the condensed milk, then stir it into the spiced syrup. Cook, stirring constantly, until the pumpkin is fully incorporated into the liquid, a process that should take around 5 minutes.
