Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 12 (4 ounce) beef eye of round steaks
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour for coating
- 1 cup Burgundy wine
- 1 cup beef consomme
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
1
Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat and pour in oil. Add the sliced onions to the skillet, stirring frequently as they cook until they reach a light golden color and become tender, approximately 5 minutes. Utilize a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked onions to a separate container.
2
Sprinkle seasoned salt and thyme over the steaks, then lightly dust them with flour. Sear the steaks in the same skillet over medium-high heat until they are nicely browned, taking around 5 minutes per side.
3
Pour the red wine and beef consommé into the skillet, followed by the steaks. Return the cooked onions to the skillet and continue cooking until the aroma of the wine dissipates, typically 2-3 minutes.
4
Decrease the heat to low and cover the skillet. Simmer the mixture for 1 hour, allowing all flavors to meld together. Serve the steaks with their accompanying sauce and garnish with chopped parsley.
