Pork Chops with Sauerkraut and Apples
Ingredients
  • 8 center cut pork chops
  • 2 pounds sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 large red apple, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Theat a large non-stick pan over the middle to high heat level, and sear pork chops on both sides until they are nicely browned. This should take around 5 minutes per side.
3
Place the browned pork chops into a large rectangular baking container measuring 9x13 inches.
4
Mix together sauerkraut, chopped apple, sliced onion, brown sugar, and caraway seeds in a bowl until they are perfectly blended. Then spread this mixture evenly over the top of the pork chops.
5
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to prevent any extra cooking or browning.
6
Bake the pork chops in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes, or until they are no longer pink inside. To check the internal temperature of a pork chop, use an instant-read thermometer to measure its temperature at the center. The ideal internal temperature should be around 145 degrees Fahrenheit or 63 degrees Celsius.
