Pork Chops with Dirty Rice
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 4 (6 ounce) pork chops
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit (or 190 degrees Celsius, if you prefer metric).
2
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat; sear the pork chops on both sides until they're nicely browned.
3
Transfer the pork chops to a separate container, reserving the flavorful juices left behind in the skillet; add the onion soup mix and water to those remaining juices, stirring constantly until it reaches a hot state.\nLayer the rice evenly at the bottom of a 2-quart casserole dish. Position the pork chops on top of the rice layer, followed by a generous pouring of the mixture from the skillet over the pork chops and rice; cover it up.\nPosition the covered dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the cover and continue baking until the pork is no longer pink in its center, an additional 15 minutes.
