Pork Chops in Apple Cream Sauce
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 large apple - peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
1
Combine the oil, thyme, salt, and pepper in a large, shallow dish. Place the pork chops within this mixture and allow them to marinate for 15 minutes.
2
Heat a large skillet over medium heat, then cook the pork chops until they develop a nice brown color on one side, taking about 4 to 5 minutes. Flip the chops and continue cooking until they are lightly browned on the other side, also taking around 4 to 5 minutes. To ensure the pork chops are cooked thoroughly, insert an instant-read thermometer into the center of a chop and verify that it reaches at least 145 degrees F (63 degrees C). Transfer the pork chops to a serving plate, cover them with a lid, and keep them warm until ready to serve.
3
Decrease the heat level in the skillet and add butter to it. Cook and stir apple slices in the melted butter until they are slightly tender, taking about 5 to 10 minutes. Transfer the apples to the serving plate with the pork chops, cover them again with a lid, and keep them warm.
4
In a small bowl, whisk together the apple juice, cream, and cornstarch until well combined. Add this mixture to the skillet over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil while scraping the browned bits of food from the bottom of the pan. Continue cooking and stirring until the sauce thickens, taking about 2 to 3 minutes. Pour this sauce over the pork chops and apples, and serve immediately.
