Ingredients
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 (14 ounce) jar pizza sauce
- 1 (4 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently, 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Fill a large container with water and add a small amount of salt to it. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then cook elbow macaroni in the boiling water until it reaches the desired level of doneness but still retains some firmness, taking around 8 minutes to complete. Remove from heat.
3
In a separate cooking vessel, cook ground beef over medium heat until it has broken down into small pieces and turned a rich brown color, approximately 10 minutes; discard any excess fat that accumulates.
4
Mix the cooked ground beef with the elbow macaroni, pizza sauce, tomato sauce, and sliced mushrooms in a bowl. Place half of the macaroni mixture into a 9x12-inch baking dish and top it with half of the mozzarella cheese. Add the remaining macaroni mixture on top; sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella cheese over it. Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent drying.
5
Place the prepared casserole in the preheated oven and bake until the cheese has melted, the casserole is bubbling, and it reaches a golden brown color, taking around 35 minutes to complete. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
