Ingredients
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 cups water
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced including tops
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1/2 cup peas
- 1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the rice and water in a saucepan over high heat, causing them to reach a rolling boil. Then, decrease the heat to medium-low and cover the saucepan, allowing it to simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is tender and all liquid has been absorbed.
2
Transfer the cooked rice to a rimmed baking sheet, spread it out evenly, and refrigerate until it has cooled down, taking around 20 minutes.
3
Heat a generous amount of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, creating a hot and sizzling surface. Add the green onions, ham, and peas to the skillet and stir-fry them until they have softened slightly, approximately 2 minutes.
4
Introduce the pineapple chunks into the skillet and cook until they start to darken in color, roughly 2 minutes. Move all ingredients to one side of the skillet and pour a beaten egg into the empty space, allowing it to cook for 30 seconds or until it begins to set.
5
Combine all the ingredients in the skillet, stirring them together.
6
Mix the cooled rice with sugar, salt, white pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl. Add this mixture to the wok with the other ingredients and stir constantly to prevent sticking, cooking for about 3 minutes or until heated through.
7
Sprinkle the cooked rice with soy sauce and stir it in to combine, achieving a harmonious blend of flavors.
