Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (9 ounce) can crushed pineapple
- 3 pounds assorted chicken pieces such as breasts, thighs, wings, and drumsticks
Instructions
1
Heat the oven to its highest temperature setting, 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2
Melt butter in a cooking vessel over medium heat. Combine ketchup, brown sugar and stir until the sugar is fully incorporated. Whisk cornstarch into vinegar in a small container until it forms a smooth paste, then pour this mixture into the pan. Whisk in salt, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a boil while continuously whisking the mixture. Cook until it thickens, approximately 2 minutes. Stir in pineapple and remove from heat.
3
Place chicken pieces in a rectangular baking dish measuring 9x13 inches; pour the pineapple sauce over the top of the chicken.
4
Bake in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbling and the chicken is browned, its juices flow freely and it reaches a safe internal temperature of 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), roughly 45 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the thickest part of a thigh, ensuring it reaches at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
