Philly Steak Sliders
Ingredients
  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1/8-inch strips
  • 1 pinch meat tenderizer
  • 1 splash olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup minced bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, or to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups canned sliced mushrooms
  • 1 (12 count) package Hawaiian-style dinner rolls, sliced in half
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
1
Position the oven rack approximately six inches away from the heat source and set the broiler to its highest temperature. Combine steak and meat tenderizer in a bowl, mixing until well incorporated.
2
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the onion and bell pepper until they are slightly tender, approximately three minutes. Add the steak mixture to the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until the flavors have melded together, about three minutes. Add Italian seasoning and a pinch of pepper to the skillet, followed by the mushrooms. Cook and stir until the steak is mostly browned, around three minutes.
3
Spoon the steak mixture onto half of the dinner rolls, covering them completely. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of each roll.
4
Transfer the rolls to a baking sheet and place them under the broiler. Cook until the cheese is melted, with cooking times ranging from one to three minutes. Remove the rolls from the broiler and place a dinner roll top on each melted cheese slice.
5
Return the rolls to the oven for an additional minute or two, until the tops are toasted and golden brown.
