  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1/3 teaspoon white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Heat a small amount of butter in a low-temperature pan until it starts to melt; cook the onion in this melted butter until it reaches a light brown color, taking anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes to achieve this.

Combine bread crumbs with water and half-and-half in a large container; allow the mixture to sit for about 2 minutes, allowing it to soften slightly. Mix in the cooked onion, ground beef, ground pork, salt, white pepper, and sugar until everything is well combined. Use your hands to shape the mixture into approximately 48 very small meatballs.

Melt a moderate amount of butter in a skillet; add the meatballs and cook slowly, allowing them to take about 25 minutes to be fully cooked in the middle. Check on the meatballs occasionally to ensure they cook evenly and are no longer pink throughout.
