Easy Sushi Rice
Ingredients
  • 2 cups uncooked glutinous white rice (sushi rice)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1
Acquire all necessary ingredients and materials.
2
Begin by thoroughly rinsing the rice in a fine-mesh strainer or colander under cold, running water until the water flows freely and is clear of any impurities.
3
Next, combine the rice with water in a saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a rolling boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a low simmer, cover the saucepan with a lid, and cook until the rice is tender and all the water has been fully absorbed, approximately 20 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat source and set it aside until it has cooled sufficiently to handle.
4
Simultaneously, combine the rice vinegar, oil, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook until the sugar has dissolved completely, creating a smooth mixture. Allow this mixture to cool and then stir it into the cooked rice.
5
As you combine the cooked rice with the vinegar mixture, be patient and persistent. Initially, the mixture may appear excessively wet, but with continued stirring, it will gradually thicken and dry as it cools.
6
Finally, once the rice has cooled enough to handle, you can enjoy your finished dish.
