Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste
- 2 pounds extra lean ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 (12 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 (3.5 ounce) package sliced pepperoni, or to taste
Instructions
1
Heat the oven to its highest temperature setting, which is 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
2
In a small container, mix together salt, oregano, garlic salt, black pepper, caraway seeds, and red pepper flakes until well combined.
3
Mix ground beef with eggs in a large bowl until everything is fully incorporated. Add Parmesan cheese and the previously prepared seasoning mixture; blend well. Press the mixture into a 12x17-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
4
Place the prepared ground beef mixture in a preheated oven and cook until it is no longer pink, approximately 10 minutes. Remove excess grease.
5
Position an oven rack about 6 inches away from the heat source and preheat the oven's broiler.
6
In an even layer, spread a third of the mozzarella cheese and then a layer of tomato sauce over the baked ground beef. Sprinkle another third of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by slices of pepperoni on top. Finally, sprinkle the remaining third of mozzarella cheese over the entire surface.
7
Place the dish under the oven's broiler and cook until the mozzarella is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned, taking 3 to 5 minutes.
