Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar, divided
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 (9 ounce) bags milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped
Instructions
1
Collect and store all necessary ingredients.
2
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Coat baking surfaces with a layer of non-stick cooking spray.
3
Melt shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup granulated sugar together in a large mixing container until it reaches a uniform consistency.
4
Add eggs one at a time, followed by milk and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
5
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate this mixture into the peanut butter mixture until it is fully incorporated.
6
Form small balls of dough and then roll them in the remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking surfaces.
7
Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and immediately insert a chocolate kiss into each cookie.
8
Allow cookies to cool completely; as they do, the chocolate will harden.
