Ingredients
- 6 whole matzos
- 1 cup salted butter
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 20 ounces semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
1
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equivalent to 165 degrees Celsius. To prevent spills during baking, line the trays with aluminum foil and press the edges to create a rim. Apply a generous amount of butter to the foil, ensuring it's evenly coated.
2
Combine the melted butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer until it thickens, approximately 5 minutes. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the matzos, spreading it evenly with a rubber spatula.
3
Bake the matzos in the preheated oven until the sugar mixture is bubbling and has thickened, around 20 minutes. Allow the treats to cool completely before they become firm, about 15 minutes.
4
Place semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat them on Low for just a few seconds, until they're melted but not overcooked. Spread the melted chocolate over the toffee-coated matzos, then sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
5
Place the baking sheets in the refrigerator to chill until the treats are cold, approximately 30 minutes. Remove the matzos from the foil and break them into pieces before storing them in an airtight container or plastic bags in the refrigerator or freezer.
