Overnight Sourdough Bread
Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 6 cups bread flour
Instructions
1
Combine water, sourdough starter, oil, sugar, and salt in a large mixing container. Blend the ingredients until they are well incorporated. Sift flour into the mixture and stir until it forms a cohesive dough. Apply a thin layer of oil or grease to the dough, then place it in an oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to ferment overnight.
2
The following day, prepare two 8 x 4-inch loaf pans by applying a thin layer of oil or grease. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, breaking up any clumps to create a smooth texture. Divide the dough in half and shape each portion into a loaf, placing them into the prepared pans. Allow the dough to rise again until it has doubled in size.
3
To bake the loaves, preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Once the oven is hot, place the loaves inside and bake until the top is golden brown, taking about 40 to 45 minutes. Remove the loaves from the oven and carefully transfer them to a work surface, gently tapping the bottom of each loaf. If it sounds hollow when you tap it, your bread is done.
