Oven-Baked Ham with Sweet Pineapple and Cherry Glaze
Ingredients
  • 1 (10 pound) fully-cooked, bone-in ham
  • 4 cups boiling water, or as needed
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons dry mustard powder
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, or as needed
  • 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained
  • toothpicks
Instructions
1
Gather all necessary ingredients and prepare the oven for cooking.
2
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
3
Position the ham on a raised rack within a roasting pan, and then carefully pour approximately half an inch of boiling water into the pan beneath the ham.
4
Place the ham in the preheated oven and cook for 2 hours, or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham (avoiding the bone) reaches a minimum internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius).
5
Decrease the oven's heat level to a moderate temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, flour, dry mustard, honey, and lemon juice as needed to create a smooth, thick paste.
6
Generously brush the ham with the prepared glaze. Combine 1 pineapple chunk and 1 maraschino cherry per toothpick, and then insert the decorated picks all over the ham.
7
Return the ham to the oven and roast for 15 minutes. Baste the ham, including the fruit, with the glaze and juices that have accumulated in the bottom of the pan during cooking. Return to the oven and roast for an additional 15 minutes. Allow the ham to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
