Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided
- 2 whole rainbow trout, gutted and cleaned, heads and tails still on
- 1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- salt to taste
- 1/2 large onion, sliced
- 2 thin slices lemon
- 2 tablespoons hot water
- ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2
To prepare the baking dish, apply a thin layer of olive oil to its surface, covering an area roughly equivalent to the size of a standard 9x13-inch rectangle.
3
Next, position the trout fillets within the prepared baking dish and anoint them with any remaining olive oil. Gather all of the seasonings required for this recipe.
4
Proceed to coat both the interior and exterior surfaces of the fish with a blend of dill, thyme, and salt. Subsequently, insert thin slices of onion into the fish, followed by a light sprinkling of pepper on top. Place one slice of lemon atop each fish.
5
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and allow it to bake for an initial 10 minutes. At this point, introduce hot water into the dish.
6
Continue to bake the fish in the oven until it can be easily flaked with a fork, requiring an additional 10 minutes.
7
Finally, serve the cooked fish hot and indulge in its delightful flavors!
