Ingredients
- 2 (4 ounce) boneless cod fillets
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups milk, or as needed
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon salted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
2
Take a large, rectangular baking dish and apply butter to its surface.
3
Carefully position the fish fillets within the prepared baking dish, followed by a layering of sliced potatoes and onions around and atop it.
4
Pour just enough milk over the top layer to create a thin, even coating.
5
Season your dish with an adequate amount of salt and pepper to taste.
6
Place small, buttery morsels on top of the fish for added flavor and texture.
7
Place the dish in the preheated oven, leaving it uncovered, and bake until the fish flakes apart easily with a fork and the potatoes have reached tender consistency, approximately 45 minutes.
8
Occasionally check on the dish and add more milk as needed to maintain a suitable consistency.
9
Serve your finished dish in generous portions, presented in large bowls.
