Ingredients
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 (16 ounce) package firm tofu, drained and cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili paste
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 carrots, sliced
Instructions
1
Preheat your wok over a medium-high heat by heating 1/4 cup of oil. Prepare the tofu slices by coating them evenly with a generous amount of cornstarch, pressing it firmly onto both sides. Sear the tofu in the wok for 5 minutes, or until it reaches a golden brown color on all sides. Remove the tofu from the wok and place it on paper towels to drain excess moisture.
2
Next, prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, orange juice, water, sugar, chili paste, and cornstarch in a bowl. Mix the ingredients until they form a smooth and consistent mixture.
3
Return the wok to medium-high heat, adding the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Stir-fry the carrots until they become tender and easily pierced with a fork.
4
Create a well in the center of the carrots by pushing them aside, and pour the prepared sauce into the wok. Bring the sauce to a rolling boil, then mix in the tofu slices, ensuring they are fully coated with the savory sauce.
