Orange Chocolate Chip Scones
Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a baking sheet and give it a light coating of non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients of flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until they form a uniform blend.
4
Using a pastry blender or a large fork, incorporate the butter into the dry ingredients until you achieve a mixture that resembles coarse crumbs.
5
Add chocolate chips to the mixture and stir them in until they're evenly distributed.
6
Mix in a small amount of orange juice to bring the dough together and form a cohesive ball.
7
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Use your hands or a rolling pin to shape it into a circle, approximately 1/2 inch thick and with a diameter of about 9 inches.
8
Using a biscuit cutter with a fluted edge, cut out 12 scones from the dough. If you have any remaining dough scraps, simply push them together to form a cohesive mass before cutting out the final scones.
9
Place the cut-out scones onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one to allow for even cooking.
10
Bake the scones in your preheated oven until they're golden brown, approximately 12 minutes.
11
Once done, transfer the scones to wire racks to cool and harden.
