Ingredients
- 1 cup raw flax seeds
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 pinch cayenne pepper
- 1 cup cold water
Instructions
1
Begin by placing the flax seeds in a mixing container. Add salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper to the bowl as well. Next, pour in water and mix everything together until it's well combined. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap to prevent contamination and refrigerate for an overnight period.
2
Next, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with a silicone mat or parchment paper, making sure to cover the entire surface.
3
Transfer the soaked flax seeds to the prepared baking sheet and spread them out into a thin, flat layer using a spatula. Try to achieve an even thickness of about 1/8 inch. To make the crackers more manageable, cut them into small rectangles using a sharp object.
4
Finally, bake the flax seeds in the preheated oven for approximately 3 hours or until they have darkened and contracted slightly. Allow the crackers to cool in the oven with the door slightly ajar, making sure not to overcook them. Once they have cooled down, break the crackers into individual pieces.
