Ingredients
- 3 cups bread flour, divided, or as needed
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
1
Combine the ingredients of bread flour, warm water, yeast, and salt in a bowl using an electric mixer with the dough hook attachment. Begin mixing on the lowest speed until the ingredients are well combined but still retain a moist consistency, approximately 2 minutes. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and allow it to rise in a warm environment until the dough has doubled in size, roughly 20 minutes.
2
Remove the towel and continue mixing with the electric mixer on low speed until the dough has come together, around 5 minutes. Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour to the dough, incorporating it a little at a time until you achieve a soft and sticky texture, approximately 1 to 2 minutes.
3
Increase the mixer speed to medium and mix until the dough separates from the sides of the bowl, roughly 8 minutes. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and allow it to rest, approximately 20 minutes.
4
In the meantime, apply an even layer of olive oil to a plastic container.
5
Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface. Dust your hands with flour and knead the dough until it reaches a soft yet still slightly damp interior. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in the prepared container. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 day or up to 7 days.
