New Year Day Feast
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound boneless pork, cut into thin bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth, divided
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
Instructions
1
Preheat a skillet over medium heat and warm vegetable oil within it; sear pork in hot vegetable oil until it reaches a browned state, approximately 10 minutes. Move the pork to a separate container.
2
Next, melt butter in the same skillet; sauté cabbage until it reaches a wilted state, roughly 5 minutes. Introduce the onion into the skillet and cook, stirring frequently, until it becomes translucent, approximately 5 additional minutes.
3
Add caraway seeds to the vegetables and season with salt and black pepper; pour 1/2 cup of chicken broth into the skillet. Increase heat to medium-high and cook until the broth has nearly evaporated; pour the remaining 1 cup of broth into the skillet.
4
Return the pork to the skillet, add red and green bell peppers, and cover; cook until the peppers begin to soften, around 10 minutes.
