New Orleans Bourbon Chicken
Ingredients
  • 1 ½ pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup bourbon
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 cups hot cooked rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
1
Acquire necessary components for preparation.
2
Mix chicken with 1 tablespoon cornstarch in a medium-sized bowl, blending the ingredients thoroughly.
3
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat, then carefully add the chicken. Cook and stir constantly until it reaches a browned state; transfer the cooked chicken to a plate using a slotted spoon.
4
Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon oil in the same skillet. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and fragrant, taking around 1 to 3 minutes.
5
Combine the remaining 1 tablespoon cornstarch, soy sauce, broth, bourbon, brown sugar, vinegar, and crushed red pepper in a small bowl, stirring the ingredients until they are well-mixed.
6
Add the sauce mixture to the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens and becomes bubbly.
7
Return the chicken to the skillet. Cook and stir constantly until the chicken is coated in the sauce and heated through, approximately 2 minutes.
8
Serve over a bed of rice. Garnish with green onions.
