Ingredients
- 3 pounds ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups dry bread crumbs
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3/4 (12 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce
- 1 cup French-fried onions
- 3 large black olives
- 3 spaghetti noodles, broken into halves
- 2 slices red potato
- 2 cups crushed French-fried onions, or as needed
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a hot temperature of 375 degrees Fahrenheit, or 190 degrees Celsius.
2
Combine ground beef, eggs, finely chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, salt, and black pepper in a large mixing bowl until everything is fully incorporated to create the rat body mixture.
3
Mix Cheddar cheese, 3/4 of a standard bottle of BBQ sauce, and 1 cup of crispy French-fried onions together gently in a separate bowl to make the rat guts.
4
Place half of the rat body mixture onto a sheet of waxy paper and shape it into the form of a rat's body. Spread a generous layer of cheese mixture on top, leaving about half an inch of space around the edges to prevent it from overflowing during baking.
5
Add the remaining rat body mixture on top, forming a solid shape and creating a tight seal around the edges to prevent the guts from escaping during cooking.
6
Carefully flip the rat over and place the top part of a broiler pan on top, reshaping it as needed. Add some olives to create the eyes and nose, use potato slices for the ears, and spaghetti strands for the whiskers. Drizzle 1/4 of a standard bottle of BBQ sauce over the rat's body and sprinkle with crushed French-fried onions.
7
Set the broiler rack on top of the broiler pan and bake in your preheated oven until the cheese is melted, taking about 1 hour.
8
Allow the ratloaf to cool for a few minutes before slicing it up and serving.
