Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup peanuts
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
1
Prepare all the necessary ingredients beforehand.
2
Preheat a large, rimmed baking sheet by spraying it with cooking spray and set it aside for now.
3
In a large, heavy saucepan with a capacity of 2 quarts, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt over medium heat.
4
Stir the mixture until the sugar is fully incorporated and it reaches a boil, approximately 5 minutes pass.
5
Introduce peanuts into the mixture and insert a candy thermometer to track the temperature.
6
Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the temperature reaches 300 to 310 degrees Fahrenheit (150 to 155 degrees Celsius).
7
Take the saucepan off the heat source. Immediately stir in butter and baking soda, then pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
8
Utilize two forks to break up and pull the mixture into a 12x14-inch rectangle shape.
9
Allow the peanut brittle to cool completely, at least for 30 minutes.
10
Utilize a mallet to break the peanut brittle into smaller pieces.
