Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 5 tablespoons light molasses
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup raisins
Instructions
1
Begin by preheating your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
2
In a large mixing container, combine the flour, oatmeal, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients together until they are well blended.
3
In a separate large mixing container, use an electric mixer to cream together the sugar and shortening until they form a smooth and even consistency. Next, add in the molasses, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
4
Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients mixture into the wet ingredients mixture, blending until a smooth dough forms. Then, add in the walnuts and raisins, stirring them into the dough.
5
Scoop out small portions of the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, using a spoon to drop them onto the surface.
6
Place these dough portions in the preheated oven and bake until they are slightly browned on top, taking around 10 to 12 minutes.
7
Once the baking time has elapsed, remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to continue cooling completely.
