Ingredients
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, prepare your muffin tin by either greasing it with a non-stick spray or lining the cups with paper inserts.
3
To begin making the muffin batter, whisk together milk, oil, and egg in a small bowl until they are fully incorporated.
4
In another large bowl, mix together flour, ½ cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Create a small indentation in the center of this mixture to serve as a base.
5
Pour the milk mixture into the base, stirring gently until just combined. Then, fold in the chocolate chips.
6
Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling each one about 2/3 full.
7
In a small bowl, combine 1 ½ tablespoons of white sugar and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the tops of the muffins.
8
Bake the muffins in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until they spring back when gently pressed.
9
Once the muffins are done baking, remove them from the tin and transfer them to a wire rack for further cooling. Serve warm or let them cool completely.
