- 4 teaspoons brown sugar
- salt and ground black pepper to taste

Pierce the squash halves multiple times on their inner surfaces using a fork; then, apply a thin layer of melted butter and sprinkle with granulated brown sugar. Position the squash halves, cut side facing upwards, within a spacious microwave-safe container.

Heat in the microwave on maximum power until the squash flesh can be easily pierced with a fork, approximately 10 minutes. Add a pinch of salt and a few grinds of pepper to taste.
