Ingredients
- cooking spray
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 1/2 cups peanuts, or more to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven by placing the baking sheet inside and setting the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2
Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray, making sure it's evenly coated to prevent the candy from sticking.
3
In a microwave-safe bowl that can withstand high temperatures, combine granulated sugar and corn syrup.
4
Microwave the sugar mixture on high for 5 minutes, stirring every minute to prevent burning.
5
Add peanuts and melted butter to the sugar mixture in the microwave-safe bowl. Continue heating until the mixture reaches a deep amber color, approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
6
In a separate bowl, whisk together baking soda and vanilla extract until well combined.
7
Pour the candy mixture onto the prepared baking sheet using a greased wooden spoon, working quickly as it sets fast.
8
Allow the candy to cool and harden completely before breaking it into pieces to serve.
