Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
- 1 French baguette
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 pinch salt, or to taste
- 1 (14 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
- 4 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
1
Firstly, preheat your oven to a high temperature of 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Next, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, Parmesan cheese, parsley, and Italian seasoning in a large bowl. Use your hands to thoroughly mix the ingredients until they are well combined. Form the mixture into 12 meatballs and place them in a baking dish.
2
While your meatballs are cooking, prepare the baguette. Cut it in half lengthwise and open it like a book to create a cavity for the meatballs. Remove some of the bread from the inside and discard it, making room for your meatballs.
3
Before putting the baguette in the oven, brush it with olive oil and season it with garlic powder and salt. Place the baguette on a baking tray, open side facing upwards.
4
About 5 minutes before your meatballs are done cooking, put the baguette in the oven and cook until it's lightly toasted.
5
Simultaneously, warm your spaghetti sauce over medium heat in a saucepan. Remove the meatballs from the oven and use a slotted spoon to transfer them to the hot sauce. Gently mix the meatballs with the sauce.
6
Fill one side of the baguette with meatballs and sauce, tucking them into the well you created earlier. Top it off with slices of provolone cheese.
7
Return the baguette to the oven and cook until the cheese is melted, approximately 2-3 minutes.
8
Finally, cut your sandwiches into 4 portions and let them cool slightly before serving.
