Meat and Veggie Dog Food
Ingredients
  • 3 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into big chunks
  • 4 pounds boneless beef chuck roast, cut into large chunks
  • 2 pounds ground bison
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans carrots, drained
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans peas, drained
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans green beans, drained
  • 2 (13.5 ounce) cans spinach, drained
  • 6 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1 (29 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Instructions
1
Place the sweet potatoes in a large Dutch oven that is 3/4 full of water. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil and then cook for 10 minutes. Next, add the chuck roast and bison to the pot and continue cooking until the meat is no longer pink, taking around 10 to 12 minutes.
2
After that, add the carrots, peas, green beans, and spinach to the pot and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. Stir in some oats and continue cooking until the mixture has thickened, requiring about 5 to 7 minutes.
3
Now, add some pumpkin and olive oil to the mixture and immediately remove it from heat. Let the mixture cool down a bit, taking around 5 to 10 minutes.
4
Transfer the roast to a plate and chop it into small pieces. Then, return the chopped meat back into the mixture.
5
Use a potato masher to mash up the mixture until it reaches your desired consistency. Allow the mixture to cool down sufficiently, which should take around 30 minutes.
6
Finally, transfer the cooled mixture into resealable containers and freeze it for later use.
