Ingredients
- 6 cups fresh marionberries
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 (15 ounce) package pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
- 2 teaspoons water, or as needed
- 2 teaspoons sugar, or to taste
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to a high temperature of 450 degrees Fahrenheit or 230 degrees Celsius.
2
Mix together the juicy marionberries, a generous amount of three-quarters cup sugar, flour, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice in a large bowl until well combined.
3
Place one pie crust at the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate, then fill it with the marionberry mixture. Cover the filling with the remaining pie crust and press the edges together to seal it securely.
4
Lightly brush the top of the pie with water and sprinkle a pinch of sugar on top. Use a sharp knife to cut four to eight small slits in the top crust, about an inch long.
5
Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes. Then, reduce the heat to a moderate temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius and continue baking until the crust turns golden brown, taking an additional 45 to 50 minutes.
6
Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. This will take around one hour, giving you time to relax and enjoy your delicious creation.
