Ingredients
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 tablespoons capers
- 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 pound spaghetti
Instructions
1
Mash together crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, minced garlic, sugar, chopped parsley, garlic powder, salt, dried oregano, fresh basil, and ground black pepper in a large saucepan. Add capers and crushed red pepper flakes to the mixture. Cover the pan with a lid and heat it over high flames until boiling point is reached. Gradually decrease the heat and let it simmer, covered, for 45 to 60 minutes.
2
During this time, fill a large pot with salted water and bring it to the boiling point. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water until it reaches a tender yet still slightly firm texture when bitten into. Drain the spaghetti thoroughly.
3
Combine cooked spaghetti with the simmering sauce and serve it warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
