Maple Sugar Candies
Ingredients
  • 2 cups pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
1
Attach a candy thermometer to a substantial, heat-conductive saucepan and initiate heating of maple syrup in the saucepan over moderately high heat, stirring periodically, until the syrup reaches a temperature of 235 degrees Fahrenheit (110 degrees Celsius).
2
Immediately disengage heat source and permit the syrup to cool to 175 degrees Fahrenheit (80 degrees Celsius) without agitation, approximately 10 minutes.
3
Subsequently, vigorously blend the mixture with a sturdy wooden spoon until it has thickened, developed a creamy texture, and undergone a noticeable color transformation, approximately 5 minutes. Introduce chopped nuts into the mixture.
4
Pour the candy mixture into molds; allow it to cool at ambient temperature until solidified.
5
Extract the candy from its molds and store in a sealed container for up to 1 month.
