Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 (5 ounce) salmon fillets
Instructions
1
Combine soy sauce, maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and salt in a small, airtight vessel. Add the salmon fillet, skin-side down, to the container and secure it with a tight-fitting lid. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
2
Heat an outdoor grill to extremely high temperatures and lightly brush the grates with oil. Once heated, adjust one side of the grill to a low heat setting.
3
Carefully place the salmon fillet, skin-side down, over the preheated grill on low heat and close the lid. Allow it to cook slowly, basting it once with the reserved marinade, until it flakes easily with a fork, approximately 20 minutes. The salmon should release from the grill effortlessly by sliding a spatula between it and the skin
