Ingredients
- 3/4 cup uncooked short-grain white rice
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 cups 2% milk
- 1 teaspoon maple flavored extract
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
1
Heat the saucepan over medium heat and combine the rice with water, stirring occasionally. As the mixture reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it gently simmer for 20 minutes or until all the water has been fully incorporated.
2
Next, add 1 3/4 cups of milk, sugar, and maple syrup to the saucepan. Continue to heat the mixture over medium heat until it comes to a boil, then gradually reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes or until it reaches a thick, creamy consistency.
3
Subsequently, stir in the remaining milk, along with nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Add a pat of butter to the saucepan and continue to cook over low heat for an additional 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
4
Finally, transfer the creamy mixture to a casserole dish or individual serving bowls. Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before serving, and feel free to serve it chilled as well.
