  • 2 green bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch dice
  • 1 yellow onion, cut into 1/2-inch dice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (1.25 ounce) package chili seasoning mix, or to taste
  • 1 dash hot sauce, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until it is broken down into small pieces and has a rich brown color, taking approximately 5 to 10 minutes. Remove excess fat.

Combine the cooked ground beef with black beans, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, chopped green bell peppers, yellow onion, minced garlic, and chili powder in a large cooking vessel over medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then lower the heat to a low simmer and let it cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are slightly softened and the chili has reached a warm temperature, taking around 15 to 20 minutes. Add hot sauce, salt, and ground black pepper according to your personal preference.
