Ingredients
- 1 large head cabbage, shredded
- 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 small small onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, shredded
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons celery seed
Instructions
1
Combine shredded cabbage, sliced green bell pepper, chopped onion, and grated carrots in a large bowl.
2
Mix boiling water with salt in a separate bowl and pour over the cabbage mixture; let it sit for about an hour, allowing the vegetables to release excess moisture.
3
Drain the mixture thoroughly to remove any remaining water.
4
In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, 1 cup of water, apple cider vinegar, and ground celery seeds.
5
Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved.
6
Remove the saucepan from the heat source and allow it to cool down completely.
7
Once cooled, pour the sugar-vinegar mixture over the drained cabbage mixture in a large bowl and mix until everything is well combined.
8
Transfer the slaw to resealable plastic bags, remove any air pockets, seal the bag tightly, and place it in the freezer.
