Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 tablespoons chopped garlic, or to taste
- salt to taste
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes (such as San Marzano®)
- 1 (12 ounce) bag thin green beans, trimmed
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
1
Preheat the skillet over extremely high heat, and then pour in olive oil to fill it.
2
Next, add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt to the hot oil mixture.
3
Continue stirring constantly until the onion has transformed from its raw state into a deep golden brown color, which should take around 15 minutes.
4
Now, combine the cooked onion mixture with the chopped tomatoes and green beans.
5
Then, add a spoonful of sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon to the mixture.
6
Bring the entire mixture to a rolling boil, followed by a reduction in heat to a low-medium temperature.
7
Cover the skillet with a lid and let it simmer gently until the green beans have become tender, which should take anywhere from 20 to 25 minutes.
