Lebanese Meat Pies
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 pounds round steak, cut into small pieces
  • 2 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup snipped fresh parsley
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 (1 pound) loaves frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
1
Prepare the baking surface by covering it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
2
Heat a generous amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat, allowing it to warm up before adding the ingredients. Add steak pieces, onions, parsley, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook until the steak is evenly browned on all sides, taking approximately 5 minutes to achieve this. Remove from the heat source.
3
Roll out the bread dough on a lightly dusted surface to create 4- to 5-inch round shapes. Place about 2 tablespoons of the prepared meat mixture onto each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle shape, ensuring the edges are pinched together but leaving a small gap in the center to allow steam to escape during cooking. Arrange the dough creations on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat the process with the remaining dough and meat mixture, covering them with a clean kitchen cloth to maintain humidity. Allow the dough to rest for 10 minutes, allowing it to rise and become more pliable.
4
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius), setting it up for baking.
5
Place the prepared dough creations in the preheated oven and bake until they are lightly browned, taking around 25 minutes to achieve this.
