Lebanese Kibbee with Spices
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup bulgur
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mint
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts
Instructions
1
Preheat your oven to the desired temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or equivalently, 175 degrees Celsius.
2
Next, take a moment to prepare an 8 inch square baking dish by applying a thin layer of lubricant, ensuring it is evenly coated.
3
Submerge the bulgur in boiling water and allow it to swell, then gradually cool down over a period of 10 minutes.
4
Combine the cooked bulgur, chopped mint, ground allspice, black pepper, ground cinnamon, salt, diced onion, parsley leaves, and minced lamb in a food processor. Process the mixture until it is thoroughly blended, taking approximately 1 minute to achieve this.
5
Divide the lamb mixture into two equal portions and layer one portion in the prepared baking dish, forming a large patty.
6
Sprinkle pine nuts over the meat layer, followed by the remaining lamb portion on top, pressing firmly to ensure an even distribution.
7
Cut the kibbee into uniform squares measuring 1 1/2 inches in size.
8
Bake the kibbee mixture in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
9
Check the kibbee for doneness by inserting an instant-read thermometer into its center; it should read 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
