Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/2 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
- 1 1/2 cups beef stock
- 1 cup water
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
1
Acquire all necessary components.
2
Combine ground sirloin, panko bread crumbs, egg, milk, 1/2 packet of onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper in a large mixing container; form into 5 uniform patties.
3
Preheat a cooking vessel over medium heat. Cook the patties in the hot skillet until they have developed a rich brown color, taking approximately 3 to 5 minutes per side.
4
Prepare the sauce: Melt butter in a separate cooking vessel over medium-high heat. Sauté sliced mushrooms and onions in the melted butter until they are tender, taking around 5 minutes. Combine flour and the remaining 1/2 packet of onion soup mix with the mushroom mixture, stirring until everything is well incorporated.
5
Gradually add beef stock and water to the saucepan, continuously stirring until it starts simmering. Lower the heat to medium; cook, frequently stirring, until the sauce has thickened, taking about 4 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
6
Place the browned patties into the sauce; continue to simmer until they are extremely tender, approximately 30 minutes. Use a food thermometer inserted into the center to verify that it has reached 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
