- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 ounce unsweetened baking chocolate

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the beef and onion until the meat is browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a large Dutch oven or slow cooker.

Next, combine the water, garlic, cumin, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper in the Dutch oven or slow cooker. Stir until well combined.

Add the cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and bay leaves to the pot. Stir again to incorporate.

Add the tomato sauce and chocolate to the pot, stirring until they are fully incorporated into the mixture.
