Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package firm tofu
- 1 pinch sea salt to taste
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 serrano chile peppers, chopped
- 2 teaspoons white vinegar
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
1
Cut the extra-firm tofu into 12 identical, rectangular-shaped pieces.
2
Sprinkle a pinch of salt evenly onto both sides of the tofu slices to bring out their natural flavors.
3
Heat a substantial amount of vegetable oil in a deep, large saucepan over a moderate heat setting.
4
Dip each tofu slice into the beaten egg mixture before gently placing it in the hot oil, where it will cook until it reaches a golden brown color on both sides, approximately 3 minutes per side.
5
Combine the soy sauce, chopped green onions, diced chile peppers, vinegar, sugar, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl to create the dipping sauce.
6
Dip each fried tofu piece into the prepared dipping sauce.
