Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 green onions, minced
- 3 cloves roasted garlic, mashed
- 1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 tablespoon Asian (toasted) sesame oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1
Heat a small, dry skillet over low-medium heat and stir sesame seeds until they are aromatic and lightly browned, approximately 2 minutes. Transfer the toasted sesame seeds to a small bowl immediately and allow them to cool down.
2
Combine ground beef, chopped green onions, roasted garlic, mirin wine, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, black pepper, salt, and toasted sesame seeds in a large mixing container until everything is well incorporated.
3
Divide the meat mixture into 8 equal parts and shape each portion into a thick beef patty, about half an inch in thickness.
4
Cook the burgers in a large skillet over low-medium heat until they are browned and the meat is no longer pink inside, about 8 minutes per side. Use a thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the burgers reaches at least 145 degrees Fahrenheit (65 degrees Fahrenheit).
